What does practical AI adoption look like?
AI for healthcare should begin with a specific task, a defined reviewer and a measurable quality standard. The first question is whether a tool improves a workflow safely—not whether it can produce an impressive demonstration.
I connect technology leadership with practical education: helping teams understand possible uses, evaluate limitations and design a manageable pilot. My published MediHub resource is one example of this educational work.
Four areas worth evaluating
- Administrative drafting: create a first draft of meeting notes, training outlines or an internal procedure using approved, non-sensitive material.
- Knowledge work: organize literature searches and summarize source documents, with verification against the originals.
- Patient communication: draft plain-language educational material for review by a qualified clinician before release.
- Clinical workflow support: evaluate specialist tools under clinical governance, with local validation, appropriate consent and documented review.
A pilot that can be evaluated
- Define one task. State who performs it, how long it takes and what a correct result requires.
- Set the data boundary. Use fictional or approved material during training. Assess contracts, retention and access before using patient information.
- Compare with the baseline. Record completion time, factual errors, reviewer corrections and escalation needs.
- Agree a decision. Continue, change the design or stop. A successful demonstration alone is insufficient evidence for rollout.
Featured educational project
A published resource that introduces healthcare professionals to categories of AI applications. The companion case study explains the work and proposes a way to evaluate training.

Responsible adoption is a design requirement
A generated answer can be fluent and wrong. Assign a reviewer, retain relevant source references, test failure cases and define when the workflow must stop or escalate. Approval or compliance status must be verified for the specific product, intended use and jurisdiction; it cannot be assumed for an entire category of tools.
Frequently asked questions
Is AI for healthcare only about ChatGPT?
No. It includes general productivity tools and specialist applications. Each has different capabilities, data handling and validation requirements.
Can staff use patient data during a workshop?
Use fictional cases by default. Real patient information requires an approved environment, a lawful basis, appropriate safeguards and organizational authorization.
How should a hospital measure AI value?
Compare the same task before and during a pilot, measuring time, quality, correction effort and safety issues. Count reviewer effort as part of the total cost.
